Description: The course provides a detailed account of the orthodox doctrine of the Church. Emphasis is to be led on the following issues: Dogmatic and Ecclesiology, a descriptive definition of the Church and the question about its periods. The Christological and Pneumatological background of the Church: The Church as the body of Christ and communion of Spirit’s gifts. The Church and the sins of its members; visible and invisible Church: an orthodox commentary on earlier as well as contemporary ecclesiological theories. Notae Ecclesiae: The unity (with reference to the so called Eucharistic Ecclesiology and the Communion-Ecclesiology), sanctity (with reference to the relation between the Mother of God and the Church), catholicity and apostolicity (with reference to the apostolic succession). The questions of Synodality, primacy and infallibility. The Holy Mysteries or the life in Christ. The fulfillment of the eschatological destiny of the Church: Resurrection, the second coming of Christ and the mystery of the Deification.
