Description: The subject Hymnology and Hymnography is common for both Study Programs of the Academy. Its rich curriculum is structured according to the following themes: 1. Introduction to the Ecclesiastical Hymnology and Hymnography. 2. The Greek Christian Hymnography from the Old Testament time until the 6th century. 3. The Liturgical Hymns in tonic meters. The Eucharistic Hymns in the Early Church. The Hymns “in lyrics” and their Syrian origin. The Forerunners of Kontakion. 4. Hymns in prosodic and tonic meters. 5. TheHeretics’ Hymnography. 6. The Genesis of the Kontakion. The Structure of the Kontakion: a) Prooimion b) Oikoi c) Efymnion d) Acrostic. 7. Romanos the Melodist and the Kontakion. OtherpoetsofKontakia. 8.
