Description: The course provides students with a survey of the Greek Philosophy from the beginning of the 6th century BC until the end of the Hellenistic period. After a brief account of the life and work of each thinker we lay stress to the main aspects of their philosophical doctrine. It is especially to take into consideration the following main issues: Pre-Socratic philosophers (Thales, Anaximander, Anaximenes, Heraclitus, Parmenides, Empedocles, Democritus, Anaxagoras etc.), Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, the Stoics, Epicureans and Skeptics.
